Bonney Expands Fleet with Five New Kenworth Prime Movers
Bonney Energy is proud to announce the addition of five new Kenworth prime movers to its fleet, marking a significant step forward in our long-term equipment strategy and commitment to operational excellence.
The decision to purchase five new Kenworth trucks stems from a comprehensive five-year replacement plan aimed at identifying equipment nearing the end of its operational life. After a thorough review of various OEMs, Kenworth emerged as the ideal choice to meet our evolving needs.
“These trucks are custom-built to our requirements,” says Operations GM Justin Durham, “which aligns perfectly with our ‘right product, right task’ mindset.”
Bonney selected the T410 and T610 models for their superior payload advantages, thanks to a lower tare weight and optimized wheelbase. These models also offer access to a robust parts network, helping to minimise downtime and keep our operations running smoothly.
“This is the first time in a long while we’ve had the opportunity to select every component,” Durham explains. “It’s about giving our drivers the right equipment to do their job safely and efficiently.”
The new prime movers will be double-shifted across a range of tasks, including fuel deliveries to Bonney’s own customers as well as Ampol Cartage, Metro, and Linehaul operations. Designed with the driver in mind, each truck is equipped with:
- Fridges for food and drink storage
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane departure warning systems
- Fatigue monitoring technology that detects long glances away from the road and signs of drowsiness
With the integration of Cummins and PACCAR engines, Bonney anticipates a noticeable reduction in fuel consumption. The PACCAR Connect system will provide enhanced monitoring capabilities, allowing for smarter fuel and maintenance management.
“We’re expecting not only lower fuel burn but also reduced repair and maintenance costs,” says Durham “And as we phase out older trucks, those savings will extend across the business.”
