Bonney Energy Supports National Road Safety Week 2026

At Bonney Energy, safety is a key part of how we operate every day, whether that’s on the road, at our depots, or within the communities we support across Tasmania and Victoria.

This May, Bonney Energy is proud to support National Road Safety Week, helping raise awareness around safer driving behaviours and the importance of looking out for one another on the road.

Every year, approximately 1,200 people are killed and more than 40,000 seriously injured on Australian roads. Road trauma remains the biggest killer of Australian children under 15, and the second-biggest killer of Australians aged between 15 and 24.

The message behind National Road Safety Week is simple: Drive So Others Survive.

“National Road Safety Week is an important reminder that road safety isn’t just a campaign for one week of the year, it’s something we all need to think about every time we get behind the wheel,” said Michael Grech, Bonney Energy’s Health, Safety and Environment Manager.

“At Bonney Energy, many of our team members spend long hours on regional and rural roads, so we understand how important it is to stay alert, drive to conditions and look after one another.”

As part of National Road Safety Week, Bonney Energy will be supporting a number of community initiatives, including:

  • Hosting a National Road Safety Week BBQ at Ampol Epping Forest and the Truckies Memorial on May 20
  • Displaying yellow ribbons across Bonney Energy trucks and retail sites
  • Handing out free yellow pins in partnership with RACT
  • Encouraging staff and community members to take the official road safety pledge.

The business is also encouraging all Australians to take the pledge and play their part in making roads safer for everyone.

Small actions behind the wheel can make a big difference, because everyone deserves to get home safely.
